The Dixielanders Jazz Band

We been performing in Southwest Florida from November through May since 2006. All retired professionals, we have returned to our musical roots to play jazz for the public’s pleasure.

As a traditional, New Orleans-style band, we have up front, two cornets, a clarinet and a trombone, backed by a tuba, a banjo, a piano and drums. We love to sing, and we play tunes that are highly danceable.

The Dixielanders play “feel good” music, guaranteed to get people moving, if only to clap their hands and stamp their feet; altho many is the time we have ended a set with half the crowd marching around the venue, led by the musicians.

Every performance is different, tailored to the requirements of the job. We always include Dixie classics of traditional blues, gospel and ragtime. Usually a set includes a sing-along medley.

For more background, and to see us in action via video clips, visit our web site at www.dixielanders.org.
